Day 1
Guest will be received at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport / or Thiruvananthapuram Railway Station and driven to the Hotel. Check-in to the hotel and freshen up. Enjoy a traditional South Indian breakfast at a local restaurant. After Breakfast Guest will visit the Padmanabhaswamy Temple, One of the most revered Vishnu Temples in India and a significant pilgrim site. It is considered as the richest worship place in the world. Remember to dress modestly. There may be specific dress codes required for entry. Traditional Indian wear is required for entry so it’s best to check in advance.
Afternoon enjoy a traditional Kerala meal at a nearby restaurant. After lunch head to the Napier Museum, located nearby. This museum houses, a rare collection of archaeological and historical artifacts, including bronze idols, ancient ornaments and ivory carvings. Spend some time exploring the exhibits to delve into Kerala’s rich cultural heritage and then visit Sree Chithra Art Gallery, which is located within the same complex as the Napier Museum. This gallery houses a remarkable collection of Indian paintings, including works by Raja Ravi Varma, Nicholas Roerich and various other renowned artists.
After exploring the art gallery, spend the evening at Shangumugham Beach. Enjoy a picnic with your family, witness the sunset, indulge in some local street food and relax.
Day 2
After the early Breakfast, begin your second day with a trip to Poovar Island. The rare phenomenon of a lake, a river, the sea and a beach meeting land happens at Poovar Island. This is also where the Neyyar river joins the Arabian Sea. Poovar is essentially a fishing village, and sparsely inhabited for the most part. Therefore, it is ideal for those seeking a respite from the noise and crowd of the city. Abundant in flora, it is also the storehouse of hundreds of spices, rare flowers and trees. Those interested in history can visit a centuries-old martial arts village located nearby. You can view the lovely backwaters from Poovar Beach, which is an unsullied stretch of golden sand, an ideal place to lounge and soak in the spirit of Kerala. Enjoy a boat ride through the tranquil backwaters, surrounded by lush greenery and mangrove forests.
Visit Padmanabhapuram Palace, located about 50 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram. This ancient wooden palace showcases exquisite craftsmanship and architectural brilliance. Explore the intricately designed rooms, courtyards, and museums within the palace complex. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Neyyar Dam, surrounded by scenic hills and lush vegetation. You can rent a boat and explore the reservoir or simply relax by the water, soaking in the natural beauty of the surroundings. After lunch, embark on a safari through Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary, home to diverse flora and fauna including elephants, tigers, deer, and various bird species. Explore the sanctuary on a guided tour and witness the beauty of Kerala's natural landscape.
