This itinerary ensures a specially curated experience designed to immerse you in the breathtaking beauty and rich biodiversity of Parambikulam Tiger Reserve. Nestled in the heart of the Western Ghats, this reserve is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a serene escape into the wilderness.
Day 1: Arrival
6:30 AM : Arrival at Parambikulam Tiger Reserve
Reach the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve entrance early. The reserve opens at 7:00 AM.
Purchase entry tickets and check-in for the "A Day in Parambikulam" program at the information center.
Meet your assigned naturalist who will guide you through the day's activities.
7:00 AM : Morning Safari
Begin the day with an exciting jeep safari through the reserve.
The safari will take you through diverse habitats, offering a chance to spot tigers, leopards, elephants, deer, and various bird species.
The naturalist will provide insights into the wildlife and ecosystems of Parambikulam.
9:00 AM : Bamboo Rafting in Parambikulam Reservoir
Head to the Parambikulam Reservoir for a serene bamboo rafting session. Enjoy the calm waters and the beautiful surrounding landscapes.
Look out for aquatic birds and other wildlife that come to the water’s edge. The naturalist will explain the importance of the reservoir and its biodiversity.
11:00 AM : Visit to Thunakkadavu Dam and Kannimara Teak
Visit the Thunakkadavu Dam, known for its scenic beauty and engineering marvel. Learn about the dam's significance in water management and its role in the ecosystem.
Proceed to the Kannimara Teak, one of the oldest and largest teak trees in the world. The naturalist will share the history and cultural significance of this majestic tree. Take time to admire and photograph this natural wonder.
12:30 PM : Lunch at Kannimara Café
Enjoy a traditional lunch at Kannimara Café, operated by local tribal communities. Savor authentic local dishes prepared with fresh ingredients.
1:30 PM : Trek through the Elephant Song Trail
Embark on a guided trek along the Elephant Song Trail. The trail offers a chance to experience the rich biodiversity of the reserve, including various flora and smaller fauna.
The naturalist will point out interesting plants, insects, and other wildlife, sharing their ecological roles.
3:00 PM : Visit to Tribal Heritage Centre and Eco Shops
Visit the Tribal Heritage Centre to learn about the culture and traditions of the indigenous communities living in and around the reserve. Explore exhibits showcasing tribal artifacts, crafts, and their way of life.
Visit the eco shops operated by the local tribal communities. Purchase handmade crafts, souvenirs, and organic products. The proceeds from these shops support the local communities and conservation efforts.
4:30 PM : Visit to Dam-view Point and Valley-view Point
Stop at the Dam-view Point for a breathtaking view of the Parambikulam Dam. Learn about the dam’s role in water conservation and its impact on the surrounding ecosystem.
Proceed to the Valley-view Point for panoramic views of the lush green valleys and forests. Capture stunning photographs of the landscape and enjoy the tranquil ambiance.
5:30 PM : Departure
Conclude the day’s activities and return to the main entrance. Depart from Parambikulam Tiger Reserve with unforgettable memories of your visit.
